How far do you have to go in installation to have a malware program affect your computer?


I downloaded a suspicious program accidentally, as in clicked download and waited for it's install icon to be available. Upon opening the installer, I found out it was the wrong program, and stopped before installing. Would the program not be able to affect my computer yet? I deleted all installing files/programs afterwards. How far do you have to install to have malware/viruses' effect take place? Thanks.

garfield 		Some viruses just take that first click to be activated, just depends on the coding of the virus. I would do a virus scan of your computer and observe any unusual behavior. If you don't have anti virus AVG is the best free one out right now and Norton is the best. Norton 360 is the best protection but also the most expensive antivirus Norton offers. You can browse through their options to get the best one that's for you.
