How to get to windows boot menu through VMware in a MAC?


Im a newbie when it comes to Mac's. I have a Mac with Vmware and my virtual machine is windows 7. The problem is I dont know the password to windows 7. I have a little password cracker that I can use but you have to boot from the cd to use it. So i put in the CD and i try to get to the boot menu in the virtual machine and its no good. On the Mac everytime you push f12 it just changes the brightness or f2 changes something else. Even when im inside the virtual machine those buttons still maintain control. So how can i fix this?
