Should I upgrade to 4GB or 6GB DDR RAM for Laptop with Intel Core i3 2.27GHz?

I play alot of games, plus photo-editing in PS and Corel Photopaint also use CorelDRAW and modelling animation in Maya 2011 and AutoCAD. I also use NetBeans, MS Visual Studio and Dreaweaver CS5.
I use Win7 but I also have to run multiple OS using VMware like ubuntu, fedora, backtrack etc.
I think i need to upgrade my ram from 2gb to either 4 or 6.
Come with some suggestions if you have some experience.
It is dell inspiron 5010. I use 64 bit OS. It support upto 8GB.

At least 4. Six would be even better if your computer will support 6.

You didn't include what make and model computer you have, or whether you're running a 32-bit or 64-bit set of OSes. The difference between 4 GB and 6 GB under normal circumstances are miniscule, and if you run a 32-bit operating system, it won't be able to use more than about 3 GB at any rate.

Sell that hunk o' junk and BUILD, yes build, your own computer. Go to like CompUSA or search up how to build your own system. Desktops are the BEST. Laptops are more expensive, and pack less punch. DESKTOPS. YOU SHALL BUY A DESKTOP... :O :D :)
